Supporting You Through One of Life’s Biggest Transitions

Pregnancy, birth and the early weeks of parenthood are among the most profound experiences of a person’s life - and among the most physically and emotionally demanding. Whether you are navigating a difficult pregnancy, recovering from a challenging birth, or simply finding your feet in those early weeks, you deserve nurturing, expert support.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) offers a gentle, non-invasive way to help both mother and baby release tension, regulate the nervous system, and find greater ease - in your bodies and in your relationship with each other.

Kate’s combined background as a Health Visitor, nurse, trained Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist, and mother of three means you are held in a space that is both clinically informed and deeply compassionate.

How BCST Can Help Your Baby

Birth - even when straightforward - places significant physical forces on a baby’s head, neck and spine. In some births, these forces are greater, and a baby may carry residual tension that affects how they settle, feed and thrive.

BCST for babies is an exceptionally light and gentle therapy. Kate works at the pace of the baby, always guided by their cues and comfort. Many parents notice a visible softening or settling in their baby during or after a session.

BCST may be particularly helpful for babies experiencing:

•       Unsettled behaviour, fussiness or difficulty sleeping

•       Feeding difficulties - latching, wind, reflux

•       Colic or digestive discomfort

•       Asymmetry or tension in the body (e.g. head preference to one side)

•       Birth trauma - including forceps, ventouse or fast deliveries

•       Tongue tie, before or after division

How BCST Can Help You as a Mother

The focus after birth is almost always on the baby - but you matter too. Your body has been through something extraordinary, and you deserve support in your own right.

BCST can help mothers with:

•       Physical recovery after birth - including C-section, instrumental delivery

•       Emotional processing - birth trauma, shock or disappointment

•       Nervous system regulation and stress reduction

•       Postnatal anxiety or low mood

•       Difficulty bonding or adjusting to the transition into motherhood

•       Support during pregnancy - particularly in the third trimester

During Pregnancy

Many clients begin working with Kate in the second and third trimester, using BCST to prepare both body and nervous system for birth. Sessions can help release tension in the pelvis, sacrum and surrounding tissues, supporting optimum foetal positioning and helping the mother feel calm, grounded and ready.

BCST is gentle and safe throughout pregnancy. Kate will always adapt the session to your comfort.

What to Expect in a Session

Sessions take place with you and your baby together. Kate works gently and respectfully with both of you, always following the baby’s cues. Babies may feed, be held, or move around during the session - all of this is welcome and expected.

You do not need to keep your baby still or quiet. Kate is experienced in working flexibly within the natural rhythm of your baby’s needs.

Sessions are between 60 - 90mimutes. For babies, a little more time is given to settling and integration. Kate always takes a full history at the first session, covering the pregnancy, birth and the early weeks, to understand the full picture of what you are both carrying.

Kate’s Background

Kate’s 30 years as a health professional -  in  nursing, a Health Visitor and in Infant feeding has allowed her to work closely with families during the critical early years which gives her a deep, clinically-grounded understanding of infant development, maternal mental health and early bonding.

Her study of Infant Mental Health brings a psychologically informed approach to therapy, understanding the nuances of early relational patterns, emotional regulation, and what it means to truly feel seen and held during these transformative moments.

This combined expertise means you and your baby are supported in a space that is both deeply attuned and clinically informed.

Kate came to treat my baby and me in the very early days after the birth. She was so warm, gentle and reassuring and really helped soothe both of us. She’s very knowledgeable about what could be going on with the baby, and also very much guided by her intuition. When I think about her visits in that special time, she feels like a warm hug - so nourishing! TARA, Parliament NW3
